Business cards – great gifts for graduates

    May 17th, 2011

With graduation season in full swing, there will soon be a lot of recent-grads looking to enter the work force.  Make sure your graduate is properly equipped with custom business cards.

You don’t need decades of work experience under your belt in order to convey professionalism.  A well-designed business card on quality stock is an important networking tool for anyone, especially those who are searching for jobs.  Design a simple, uncluttered card for your graduate.  Include their important contact information, their web site, areas of interest, or the degree they received.   Consider using the back of the card as well.  Add a calendar or have your graduate list their most marketable skills or distinguishing attributes.

Your recent-grad will go forth with confidence as they network and interview.

For a thoughtful graduation gift, try pairing custom business cards with a personalised engraved pen!

Graduation Ideas for College and University Graduates

    April 22nd, 2009

Party Themes – A great theme for a college or university graduation party is the career area of the degree received by the graduate. For example, a dental school graduate’s cake could feature a mouth drawn in icing with square white glossy pieces of gum placed in rows for teeth. Ice the background of the cake in a color other than white first so that the white “teeth” will stand out. Light green may work well for the background as the lips around the teeth should be red or pink.

Be creative! If the career area has to do with numbers or statistics, this can be made into a theme as well. Statistics about the graduate can be posted on signs as part of the decorations such as “12 – The number of credits Shelley had in nursing before she switched to accounting.”

Party InvitationsCustom photo invitations with school colors are a great look. The graduate’s name and the year could be added on the front of the card along with the degree and school such as “Michael Pearman, 2012, Master’s of Computer Science, University of Massachusetts.” The graduation celebration information could be added inside.

If the graduate tends to have a trendier style, a modern design to the graduation invitations is quite acceptable. As long as the information the guest needs to know about the celebration is presented clearly and the theme or reason for the party is mentioned, the sky is the limit as far as design and style goes. The important thing is to make sure the theme, color scheme and style of all the elements of the party work together tastefully.

Party Accessories – Whether you purchase or make a cake, have it match the theme of the party. Decorations such as signs and banners aren’t only for children’s parties, but should be used at adult graduations too as they can add a festive tone.

Seasonal Ideas – Remember that unlike high school graduations, college and university graduation parties may include alcohol. A party bus or a designated driver for transportation to and from a boat cruise dinner or other location where alcohol will be served is needed for college or university graduations.
