Can I design business cards that look like Victorian calling cards?
You’ve always been an admirer of Victorian times and wish you could fit some of the elegance and style of the period into your life. As you look at the options to design business cards on Vistaprint, you realize that some of the floral template designs are just beautiful and bring the Victorian style to mind. However, your business needs call for a very sophisticated, stark style. You take one last look at your favorite floral design. You have already hit the back button on your browser when you remember a scene from your favorite movie where the lead actress dropped a card onto a tray when she stopped in to visit a friend unannounced. Seconds later, you’re looking at that floral design again, because you’ve decided to make your own Victorian style calling cards.
To turn a business cards design into a Victorian calling card, you only need to make a few adjustments.
- 1. Choose a line on the card template that is near the middle of the card. Usually, this is the “Address Line 2″ space. Type your full name.
- 2. If the text isn’t large enough for your taste or if you would like a different font, click on the advanced editing feature and make your changes.
- 3. Initial the proof and finalize your order.

Every year businesses send out Christmas Cards to their clients and customers wishing them happy holidays and seasons greetings. This is a generous notion and also a great way to have your customers keep you in mind.
The only problem is that a holiday card has a very short shelf life, especially a Christmas card not from family. It’s hard enough even remembering all the Christmas cards received last year. Make your holiday cards stick out a little more by putting business cards in with them. Business cards have a muchlonger shelf life than Christmas cards and they are much easier to carry and hold on to. This way you will not only show your customers how much you value them, but also have them keep you in mind both during and after the holiday season.

When designing your business cards, fonts are an important thing to keep in mind. A font is the particular character set or typeface that you use on your card. On a small surface such as a business card, you want all type to be easy to read, especially upon a quick glance.
Consider serifs and sans-serif fronts. Serif fonts have structural details, like feet, on the ends of every line. They tend to be more traditional. Sans-serifs, meaning “without serifs,” do not have these details, and tend to be simpler. Also, try to stay away from a lot of script or elaborate, hard to read lettering.
Choose a font that complements your business. If you own a gym, you may want a thick font with more weight. If you are a wedding planner, use a font that is more feminine and elegant.
The color of type is also something important to consider. Not all colors work well with all fonts.

Business Cards Designs
You should certainly try to avoid printing your own business cards. Flimsy or poorly made cards will send the wrong message about your company and people will not take you seriously. If you can’t design business cards with quality, no one will want to do business with you.
Besides, it usually ends up being cheaper to have your business cards professionally made. If you make business cards online, you’ll save money. You would probably pay more for cardstock, ink, and toner if you printed the cards yourself.
Hand your clients a high-quality, professional business card. It will be the beginning of a successful business relationship.

Business Cards
Does my business card need a tagline?
As you admire your new business design card one last time before you initial Vistaprint’s online proof, take the time to ask yourself one very important question. If you were a stranger viewing these business cards, would you know what your business was about? Often, the surprising answer is a resounding “No,” because business owners tend to try to create catchy memorable names for their companies, which don’t always give potential customers a concrete idea of what the business actually is.
If your business has a memorable name that doesn’t definitely tell people what services or goods you offer, now is the time to make a simple change that will let them know. You don’t even have to file paperwork for a new doing business as company name for this modification. Just create a tagline to go below the business name on the card that states exactly what you do. If you own Jane Doe’s Happy Tails, the tagline should state that it is a dog grooming service, a pet sitting service, or a company that sells artificial tails. If you are running John Doe’s A Cut Above, use a tagline to let people know whether you specialise in manicured lawns or perfectly groomed hair. Your business cards MUST characterise your company.

Business Cards from Vistaprint
Picking the Right Business Card for Your Business
A business card is one of the most important pieces of paper a professional can have garnering their name and contact information. If a business card isn’t unique and different than the other millions of business cards floating around the world then your business card will more than likely not make an impression on people you hand it to. Most business cards are thrown into a person’s desk drawer or into the trash if they but there are ways to make sure that your custom business cards stand out without looking too tacky.
The first step for picking the right business card for your business is deciding on a budget for the cards. Once the budget is set you can begin looking for the right template for your business card. Every business card will have the same information; the name of the business, the location of the business, and the contact information of the business. But what you do with the rest of the card can make or break how impressive the card is when passed around to potential clients. Pick a template that makes your card unique and makes it stand out from the rest.
One of the best ways to pick the right business card is by looking at the variety of business cards you have been handed recently. Which ones stick out the most? Which ones would you never give a second glance to? Once you determine which card looks the best, design your card in a similar way. Don’t steal the idea verbatim, but tweak the template and make it your own. Once you have picked an eye popping design for your card you can have them massed produced and begin to hand them out at work or around town. Even though your business card will appear different to the naked eye, it will still look the same, because the information on all business cards is the same.

Custom Business Cards
How can I make business cards that people want to keep?
You’re making new business cards and you are going to hand them out to everyone you see, using the new quick card draw method you’ve been practicing. You’ve gotten so good at whipping those cards out that you’re beginning to feel like a modern gunslinger. However, you have to wonder how long the recipients will hold onto your cards after you hand them out. Is there a way to make people want to keep business cards around?
To turn your business cards into something people will want to keep, take a look at that valuable blank space on their backs. This is where smart business people do something that helps turn their cards into keepers — they put something useful in that blank space. Can’t think of anything for your business card design? Try one of these ideas:
- Measurement conversions are a challenge for most people. If you have a business that relates to cooking or other household tasks, use the option to type in a company message on the back of your cards and create a measurement conversion chart.
- Small calendars are always handy for people who just want to check the date. VistaPrint actually has the option to include a calendar that has already been designed on the back of business cards.
- A tasty, but simple recipe that can fit on the back of the card is always a fun option for businesses geared toward moms or kids.
- Logic puzzles are a good fit for almost any business and may turn your card into something that gets passed around the office as everyone tries to solve them.

Before you start your online search for a logo design service, take another look at VistaPrint’s options for business cards. You can actually design your own logo right on the site by following just a few simple steps.
Click on the logo design link and then decide whether you’d like your logo to be just letters or letters and an image.
